Meet Urban Organic Farm - a one acre farm in a 50,000 sq. ft. abandoned brewery in St. Paul, Minnesota. The farm uses aquaponics and grows fresh, organic produce year round. The plants are grown in water that gets its nutrients from fish. The waste from fish is pumped to the plants, the plants' roots are suspended in the water and filter out the nutrients from the fish, and the water is filtered one more time and put back in the fish tank. The farm's first harvest consists of tilapia and five kinds of produce: green kale, red kale, Swiss chard, parsley and cilantro. As the operation expands, so will the variety. Less than an hour from farm to store. The future is organic and GMO Free!
